NTEC is devoted to providing sustainable financial and economic resources to its sole shareholder, the Navajo Nation. Our driving purpose is to give the Nation financial strength, jobs, and community benefits through sovereignty over its natural resources.

Supporting the Economic Sovereignty of the Navajo Nation

An Independent Nation
Supporting Economic Sovereignty

Coming Together for Positive Change
At NTEC, we deeply value our role in the community and are committed to understanding and supporting the needs of our neighbors and the Chapters throughout the Nation. How We Give Back
Community Heating Resource Program
Home Sweet Hogan
Every winter, NTEC extends its Community Heating Resource Program (CHRP) to every Navajo Chapter and Hopi village, offering complimentary coal to all members of the Navajo Nation to heat their homes.
In 2023, CHRP entered its fifth season since expanding the program to include the entire Navajo Nation. We had our second largest season on record with 13,149 tons distributed through individual pick-ups and the bulk program to help keep Navajo Nation homes warm through the cold winter months. With the close of the 2023-24 season, our five-year total for tons distributed has risen to 61,800 tons. The bulk program reached a milestone this winter, surpassing 10,000 tons delivered directly to Navajo Chapters and Hopi villages.
Education
Inspiring Our Youth
NTEC is a proponent of K-12 education and proudly supports Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) activities in the communities in which we operate. Many of these school-based activities are designed to show elementary, middle, high school, and college students the possibilities of a STEM-related career.
NTEC is committed to advancing educational opportunities for Navajo students in STEM fields and vocational programs. Since 2013, NTEC has worked to create new and innovative ways to increase the knowledge-base of students regarding mining career pathways based in STEM-related fields.
NTEC Community Benefit Fund
Supporting the Common Good
NTEC’s Community Benefit Fund (CBF) is an annual microgrant fund designed to help Navajo communities and area nonprofit organizations improve the quality of life for the communities they serve. Annually, NTEC donates $250,000 that is split between 25 to 30 projects. The projects vary from community gardens and nature trails to books and food banks. NTEC is proud to be a valued corporate neighbor.
Student Scholarships
Empowering Future Leaders
Scholarships are awarded to students exploring a wide variety of fields, from science to engineering, public health to technology, and more. We believe every Navajo student deserves an opportunity to apply for a scholarship from NTEC.
We offer three college scholarship programs: NTEC Navajo Nation STEM College Scholarship, Neighboring Chapters Scholarship, and the Tribal College STEM Scholarship. Each scholarship is merit-based and open to full-time status Navajo Nation residents who are majoring in a STEM field or industry-related area of study.
NTEC also continues to demonstrate its ongoing dedication to communities neighboring its Northern Mines. This investment underscores our commitment to supporting local students in pursuing their educational aspirations, thereby fostering long-term prosperity and growth within the region.
