Four Corners Power Plant

In July 2018, NTEC acquired seven-percent ownership in units four and five of the Four Corners Power Plant (FCPP). As a result of the transaction, NTEC became an owner of a coal-fired power plant, a first for a Navajo Nation enterprise. In September 2024, NTEC was awarded $6.5 million for a Front-End Engineering (FEED) Study to evaluate adding carbon capture to FCPP. It is the first grant of its kind of a tribally owned power plant on tribal lands.

Generation & Transmission

The Four Corners area is equipped with transmission capabilities to deliver power to the Navajo Nation and nearby Southwest. The infrastructure is already in place to expand the delivery capabilities of this critical power hub, making it the ideal location for new sources of energy generation such as solar and gas. The expansion of transmission in this region will also provide a new, valuable revenue source to the Navajo Nation and its people.
