ECONOMIC GROWTH THROUGH ENERGY TRANSFORMATION

The Navajo Nation is blessed with a geographic advantage and rich natural resources that have powered the Nation’s economy for several decades. The ever-increasing demand for electricity in the Southwest will require more sources of clean energy generation and transmission in the future. The NavEnergy Hub is uniquely positioned to meet this demand while improving the lives of Navajo citizens.

Existing energy infrastructure on the Navajo Nation offers a tremendous advantage in the clean energy economy. Built on reclaimed land around the Four Corners Power Plant, the site of the NavEnergy Hub is already developed to provide power today and can be easily evolved for tomorrow’s power needs as well.

Multiple generations of experience and expertise of the Navajo workforce help power the fully diversified solution of coal with carbon capture, solar, natural gas, and ultimately, hydrogen powered generation to serve tomorrow’s clean power requirements.

The Navajo Nation is poised to be a leader in these technologies. Instead of simply providing electricity to benefit outside communities, the NavEnergy Hub will enhance and maintain Navajo sovereignty over its own resources for the benefit of the Navajo people with clean, renewable energy produced with respect for and environmental stewardship of Navajo lands
