NTEC Supports More than Thirty Navajo Students with Merit-Based Scholarships

Farmington, NM – July 20, 2023 – Navajo Transitional Energy Company (NTEC) today announced its 2023 NTEC Scholarship recipients. More than thirty merit-based scholarships will be awarded to students planning to study a variety of disciplines related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The scholarship recipients are Navajo students who demonstrated exemplary academic achievement with plans to pursue a degree or certification in a STEM subject. The funds will help students defray the rising costs of higher education.

“We are proud to support the Navajo community through our NTEC Scholarship program. At NTEC, we believe that Navajo youth hold the keys to a bright and prosperous future for the Navajo Nation. We established our scholarships to help students gain critical skills in STEM careers, which will shape the Navajo Nation,” said Vern Lund, Chief Executive Officer for NTEC. “NTEC is committed to empowering our people and communities through programs that position them for success in the energy sector. Congratulations to our 2023 NTEC Scholarship winners, we are excited to see where you will go next!”

The students will be honored at a luncheon on August 3, 2023, at the San Juan Country Club. Members of the Navajo Nation Council and NTEC leadership will be there to congratulate and celebrate with the students.

NTEC is dedicated to the secondary and higher education of Navajo youth in university and trade settings.
